Red Light Therapy Belt Duel: Jazz Band Live vs. Mito Therapy
I was recently asked whether one should purchase the Jazz Band Live from DNA Vibe or the Advanced Therapy Belt from Mito Red Light.
I have good opinions about both, so it’s not a question of my endorsement.
If you look at the differences between the devices, it’s going to come down to personal preference. I highlighted the major differences in the table below.

Jazz Band Live vs. Mito Therapy Belt
Let’s compare the Jazz Band Live to the Mito Therapy Belt red light therapy devices.
Lights
I don’t know how many lights the Jazz Band Live has. It’s not published information. The Mito Belt has 1,215 individual lights based on 415 triple-chip LEDs. The Mito has more lights than any wrap I’ve reviewed. This is an advantage because it allows you get more light per session than with a wrap that has fewer lights.
Wavelengths
The Jazz Band Live emits 675 nm red and 850 nm infrared. The Mito Therapy Belt emits 660 nm and 850 nm. Biologically, these are identical.
The Jazz Band allows you to turn down the intensity of either wavelength. The Mito allows you to full turn off either wavelength. So if you want to use just red light, or just infrared light, you can do that with either device.
The wavelengths of 660 nm and 850 nm are suitable for pain relief and wrinkle reduction.
Treatment Area
The Jazz Band Live treatment area is 10 x 5 in. The Mito Belt treatment area is 21 x 5 in.
Irradiance
“Irradiance” is the measure of light that falls on the target at a given distance. With pads and wraps, that distance is zero inches, because the device is right up against your skin.
DNA Vibe doesn’t publish the irradiance of the Jazz Band Live, but we can make an educated guess as to what it is.
Mito Red Light says that the irradiance of the Belt is 10 mW/cm2 (10 milliwatts per squared centimeter).
The red light industry has a problem with irradiance. The manufacturers almost always use a meter that overstates the device’s irradiance. But we can back into this number. I’ll show you how.
A dose is made of time, irradiance. The more time you spend with a device, the more light you get. So you can have a powerful device that you use for only two minutes; or a weak device that you use for an hour; and end up with the same “dose of light.”
The Jazz Band Live instructions say to use it up to 30 minutes per session. The Mito Red Light Therapy instructions say to use the Therapy Belt for 10 minutes.
While it’s not 100% accurate, we can safely say that the Mito is appoximately three times more powerful than the Jazz Band Live, based on treatment times of 30 minutes and 10 minutes, respectively.
Magnetic Field and Vibration Therapy
The Jazz Band Live adds two therapies not found in the Mito Therapy Belt.
These are Magnetic Field Therapy and Vibration Therapy.
Both are pain relieving therapies. Magnetic Field Therapy is based on the Schumann Resonance. Both therapies natural open blood vessels and reduce pain.
Contour to Treatment Area
The Jazz Band Live contains special fibers that stay in place when you bend them (but don’t overbend them!) These keep the pad in place. Mito Therapy Belt does not have contouring for extra hold.
Battery
The battery is included with the Jazz Band Live Power Bundle and the Mito Red Light Therapy Belt.
The Jazz Band Live has a version that comes without the battery so you want to be aware of that when clicking the Buy button.
You can use any USB cell phone battery with the Jazz Band Live as well.
Price
The Jazz Band Live Power Bundle is $328.95. The Mito Red Light Therapy Belt is $329.
Conclusion
The Jazz Band Live and Mito Therapy Belt are the same price.
The Jazz Band Live adds Magnetic Field and Vibration therapy to reduce pain.
The Mito Therapy Belt treatment area is twice as large as the Jazz area.
The biggest difference is treatment time. Use the Jazz Band Live for 30 minutes per session. Use the Mito Therapy Belt for ten minutes.
